For its 21st year in the development and production of new theater, The Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) has announced its 2011 repertory. The Festival's 2011 season will feature new plays from some incredible giants in the craft, including such notables as David Mamet, Sam Shepard, Tracy Thorne, Kyle Bradstreet, and Lucy Thurber. The 2011 Festival stagings will include two new world premieres -- Bradstreet's From Prague, as well as Thurber's The Insurgents, a CATF commission.
The Contemporary American Theater Festival takes place this year from July 8 - 31, 2011, and during its four-week run is slated to stage 93 performances, as well as workshops, lectures, discussions, stage readings, and art exhibitions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to take part in "audience immersion" events that will include breakfast with the Festival's producing director, as well as the opportunity to have lunch with some of the artists themselves. (If you actually got to have lunch with Mamet, how many of you could resist throwing out a line or two from the famous "go to lunch" monologue in Glengarry Glen Ross? I mean, I'd have to do it. And then I would run far, far away...)
