The New York Innovative Theatre Foundation has been working to brighten Christmas for Hurricane Sandy victims this year, with a "Secret Sandy Toy Drive." The group, which also reached out to Sandy victims with assistance in November, is reprising its "Indie Theatre USO" this weekend as part of the wonderful "Secret Sandy" project founded by Joy Huang and Kimberley Berdy, and have been taking in donations of craft supplies from artists and theatres throughout New York. The group has been gathering whatever it could -- especially artistic materials like crayons, coloring books, paper, colored pencils, and washable markers, with theatre community members responding with donations, support and donation drop-offs in specific theatres. While the USO show is this weekend, the group is still taking monetary contributions for those who would still like to donate, accessible via http://www.nyitawards.com/support/donate.asp.
As the clock ticks down to Christmas, you can also check out Secret Sandy giving options via the Secret Sandy website.
