Maybe it's my proud geek status talking, but I've always loved and been genuinely fascinated by the Technical Oscars given out each year by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and this year's winners include an especially fascinating array of pioneers and innovators. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored nine scientific and technical achievements of 25 individual award recipients at its annual Scientific and Technical Awards Presentation at The Beverly Hills Hotel on Saturday, February 9, 2013.
Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2012 were presented on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center, and televised live on the ABC Television Network, to more than 225 countries worldwide.
