Disaster Recovery, Relief & Resources for Performing Artists

Disaster Recovery, Relief & Resources for Performing Artists

When disaster strikes, artists are often hit hard, and have few resources on hand -- luckily, several organizations exist, such as MusiCares, to help them through times of crisis.

When disaster strikes, it’s not surprising that those in the performing arts are among those hardest hit. Life in the arts often means a certain acceptance of feast or famine, of life on the edge, so the safety nets like investments, 401k, nest egg, health insurance, or other typical corporate resources all-too-often just aren’t there for many, especially those just starting out.

Luckily, there are some terrific organizations out there that do their part to help those in several of the performing arts when disaster strikes.

Here’s an overview of several such resources -- I hope they help! Where applicable, I’m also including links to Hurricane Sandy resources, however you’ll find a more expanded overview of those resources here.
