The USITT Annual Conference & Stage Expo returns March 20-23, 2013, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The event marks both the entertainment and theatre industries' leading event for education, networking and resourcing of products and services.
The USITT Conference & Stage Expo will feature more than 175 Conference Sessions and over 200 exhibiting companies. The Conference features more than 12 areas of education and meetings for every specialty skill in the industry. Whether in a classroom setting or at an evening social, over 5,000 industry experts, educators, students and vendors will find a forum in which to discuss pressing issues, learn solutions and network for the future. The Stage Expo meanwhile boasts the largest theatre-focused trade show floor in America, where more than 200 companies will be presenting the latest innovations in theatre technology and design from all over the world.
Other Events and Opportunities
In Milwaukee, attendees will also find learning opportunities in the Light Lab, which utilizes a specially designed hands-on immersion into the exciting world of lighting.
The Tech Expo, meanwhile, is where the industry comes to show the unique challenges they've faced and how they overcame them; using designs and structures to illustrate the complexities of modern theatre and entertainment.
Attendees will also find book signings with the most reputable professionals in the industry, social events to reach out and connect with fellow entertaiment industry members, and much more.
The USITT Conference & Stage Expo encompasses and celebrates all the various roles in entertainment. Distinguished Achievement Awards
Each year at its event, USITT also recognizes the work of individuals and corporations that have made a significant impact on the performing arts industry. In 2013, USITT has announced its intention to honor the following:
- Neil Mazzella of Hudson Scenic for his impact in Technical Production.
- Desmond Heeley for his work in both Scenic Design and Costume Design.
- Otts Munderloh for his work in Sound Design.
- Timothy Hartung for his work in Theatre Architecture.
- Howard Jones and Rachel Keebler for their work in education and training through Cobalt Studios, Inc.
