The Prolight + Sound Conference will take place in Frankfurt from April 10-13, 2013, presenting all important products and services from the fields of event technology, production, broadcasting, systems integration and audio-visual media technology. Additionally, the fair provides awards within the industry, as well as an important venue for knowledge transfer and training.

The Prolight + Sound Conference brings together the former information events, Media Systems Congress and Prolight + Sound Forum, in one exhibition hall (Hall 9.1 and the Cosmopolitan Lounge in Hall 9.T), and is open free of charge to Prolight + Sound visitors from April 10-12, 2013, at Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH, Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage 1, 60327 Frankfurt am Main.

The Prolight + Sound Conference is split into three main sections: event technology, media systems and VDT Academy.

Event Technology Section

The lectures of the event technology section provide information on safety in the event sector, legal issues, regulations and training options. Against the background of accidents in the event sector recently, safety is undoubtedly an important subject.

Media Systems Section

The media systems section is a forum for manufacturers and gives them the chance to present technologies, processes and solutions in the field of AV media technology and systems integration. The aim is to generate new impulses for the sectors involved, to support interdisciplinary communication and to provide information about new developments and areas of application.

VDT Academy

The VDT Academy is an information event organised by the Association of German Sound Engineers, the organization for audio professionals working in the art, media and communication spheres who want to preserve and increase the aesthetic and technical quality of their products. With these lectures, VDT provides insights into recent developments in the world of acoustics, as well as studio technology and artistic and technological trends in the fields of film, television, research & development.

Awards Presentation

During the event, Prolight + Sound presents important awards to the people 'behind' projects, events and technology. 'Opus' - the German Stage Award - is given for outstanding stage productions and events. 'Sinus' - the Systems Integration Award - goes to projects distinguished by the creative use of media technology and systems integration. Both Opus and Sinus offer a rare opportunity to discover more about the people behind outstanding theatre and concert productions, as well as about complex systems-integration and media-technology projects. At the same time, the creative and technical achievements are brought to the attention of a wider audience.

Opus - German Stage Award

Opus is awarded for the best stage productions at theatres, festivals, rock concerts or special occasions, such as corporate events. A jury of experts, journalists and representatives of the associations makes its selection from the numerous projects of the year nominated. The conceptual partners of Opus are the Professional Lighting & Sound Association of Germany (Verband für Licht-, Ton- und Veranstaltungstechnik - VPLT), the European Association of Event Centers (Europäischer Verband der Veranstaltungs-Centren - EVVC),) and Messe Frankfurt GmbH. Opus is an honorary award.

Sinus - Systems Integration Award

The 'Sinus - Systems Integration Award' will be given for the 10th time for technical and design achievements in the fields of media technology and systems integration. It is associated with the Media Systems product segment, which brings together products and services from the fields of media technology and systems integration at Prolight + Sound. The winners will be chosen by a jury made up of representatives of the Professional Lighting & Sound Association of Germany (Verband für Licht-, Ton- und Veranstaltungstechnik - VPLT) and the European Association of Event Centers (Europäischer Verband der Veranstaltungs-Centren - EVVC), as well as experts, members of the trade press and Messe Frankfurt GmbH. Sinus is an honorary award.

The aim of 'Sinus - Systems Integration Award' is to pay tribute to creative planning and its implementation in solving problems in complex systems. In many cases, the results can be seen in or on museums, conference centers and other buildings (such as interactive visitor tours and centrally controlled lighting, information and facility systems). The 'how' of the technology hidden behind the scenes is made more transparent by Sinus.
