Also known as the Jimmy(TM) Awards (in honor of Broadway producer James M. Nederlander), the National High School Musical Theater Awards (NHSMTA) provide a national celebration of outstanding high school student achievement in the performing arts. The awards recognize individual accomplishment in vocal, dance and acting performance by high school students from across the country, in a program designed to create a pathway connecting promising young performers to the professional theater industry. Nominated students perform in New York, and receive opportunities for merit scholarships, professional advancement and other prizes.
