Founded in 1989, the LA Stage Alliance Ovation Awards were founded in order to recognize excellence in theatrical performance, production and design in the Greater Los Angeles area. The Ovations are noted to be "the only peer-judged theatre awards in Los Angeles," and every year, approximately 400 productions complete for recognition in 29 categories, with the awards presented at a formal event at year's end.
